As a family-run contracting company, we know exactly what it's like to still be reconciling Excel sheets at ten at night, because you can't be sure whether a given project is even profitable. Invoices scattered across three places, fuel cost nowhere to be found, and the month-end question of "so, how much is left?" answered only by a guess.
We lived with this for years. Then we got tired of it.
We started building a system, at first just for ourselves. Everything moved to one place: project costs, supplier invoices, machine and vehicle mileage, invoicing, VAT. Today we no longer guess.
That's how Tektana was born — a system shaped by the day-to-day reality of running our own company.
Who is it for? Contracting companies with 5–50 employees who want to see clearly which project is making money, and which one is losing it.
On this blog we don't just write about the system — we also write about what we've learned over the years about project costs, post-costing, fleet tracking, and, generally, where the money disappears to on a construction site.
